Ewereka Sheep Cheddar
Central Coast Creamery produces artisanal cow, sheep and goat milk cheeses in Paso Robles, California. Reggie Jones, owner and cheese maker, worked in product development and dairy quality control for 25 years, but dreamt of producing his own cheeses. In 2012, Reggie and Kellie Jones moved their family from Modesto to the Coast—a region with a rich agricultural heritage—to found their own dairy. Today, Jones sources milk from three local farms, who have small herds free of antibiotics and artificial hormones. Central Coast Creamery believes that rich, quality milk will create the very best products—and makes the cheese to prove it! Ewereka is a sheep milk cheddar style cheese. Semi firm and dense, this cheese is aged for 4 months to bring out a smooth texture, and bright flavors of citrus and fresh cut grass. Unlike a more aged cheddar, flavors are mild and light, making this cheddar great for cooking and snacking. Food and drink friendly, this cheese pairs with most beverages, although stay away from a big red wine if you don't want competition between salt and tannins.
