The cookies are prepared the same as the traditional Amaretti di Saronno recipe, but made without sprinkled sugar, and are not individually wrapped.The Lazzaroni family have been making amaretti biscuits since 1719, and are custodians of an amaretti archive, housed in the cloisters of a 14th-century Franciscan church in Saronno, Lombardy, which contains biscuit tins dating from the 1870s. Lazzaroni's amaretti cookies are light and crispy with a subtle almond flavor. These versatile snap cookies can be enjoyed fresh from the bag, with ice cream, or used to make tiramisu and other desserts.
