Firm and crumbly in texture, yet smooth on the palate, Red Leicester is easy to find as it is orange in color due to the addition of annatto. Pair this legendary cheese with a traditional brown ale and you will find that in that with Excalibur, you are the king of cheese! Red Leicester is crumblier than your traditional cheddar in terms of texture. It is also a bit more moist and has a milder flavor. It has a slightly nutty taste with hints of burnt caramel. It is buttery smooth and very creamy.
