Part Skim Mozzarella
Calabro Cheese, founded in 1953 by Joseph Calabro, started as a small cheese business delivering ricotta to “Mom” and “Pop” stores in CT. Today, Calabro is still a family owned and operated company with headquarters in East Haven, CT. Sicilian born Joseph Calabro immigrated to the United States in 1948. Five years later he acquired Wells River Creamery, of Wells River, VT, as a manufacturing plant for Italian cheeses. With the rapid growth of the company, Joseph expanded in 1981 and moved the plant to East Haven, CT. The expansion enabled Calabro Cheese Corp. to better serve its extended list of customers in New England, New York, New Jersey, and other regions of the United States.
