In 1847, the current owner's great, great, uncle set up A. Mathews and Skailes: a London-based company that supplied cheese, eggs, butter and other provisions. In 1949 Somerset Creameries acquired Cropwell Bishop Creamery and expanded its product range to include cheeses such as Cheddar, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester. White Stilton is a Protected Designation of Origin and can only be made in one of three counties - Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire from locally produced milk. Our White Stilton is a deliciously fresh-tasting cheese, it has a crumbly but soft texture and is very smooth and creamy.
